Developing Cross-Sector Professional Development (PD) Systems

Under the auspices of the National Professional Development Center on Inclusion (NPDCI), funded from 2006 to 2013 by the U. S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), an integrated set of tools and resources were developed and piloted for providing TA to states for developing cross-sector professional development plans for supporting inclusion. The staff of NPDCI is available to facilitate the use of these resources and provide services to support the planning efforts involved in developing cross-sector PD systems from a basic to intensive level.  An example of TA services available at the basic level includes support for using the Landscape, a tool developed for states or regions to use in gathering data about the nature and intensity of professional development (PD) occurring across sectors within a continuing education or in-service context in early childhood. An example of more intensive TA services is the delivery of face-to-face facilitation of a planning process with a cross-sector group over an extended period of time.
